The Dating Department had the amazing opportunity to guest blog for the website How To Get It Together last week. Make sure to check out the blog for relatable stories about dating and relationships! Here is the article I contributed below…
The Great Date
Dating is tough enough, so when you add having to come up with a great date idea, it can become overwhelming. Of course, the ‘dinner and a movie date’ is timeless and fun, but sometimes you might want to change it up to impress your date. So, if you’re sick and tired of going to the same old restaurant or the same old coffee spot, check out these date ideas for both guys and girls to plan!
The Girl Plans the Date
Game on – They say men like a challenge, huh? So why not show him your competitive side with a date of games. One way to let the games begin is to set up a game night at your place. Or you can get tickets to a game for the two of you. Other options are taking your guy to the batting cages, the arcade, go-karts or a driving range. Show him your competitive side!
Beer Tasting – If your guy’s not already in love with you, after this date, he will be. Tell him you have a special date in mind for him. Buy a bunch of craft beers and set out the drinks like you’re at a brewery having a beer flight together. With every sip he takes, he will fall more and more in love with you.
Camping – Rough it with each other. Guys tend to love the wilderness and also love a woman who can enjoy the outdoors. Planning a camping date shows your adventurous side and that you’re okay with getting a little dirty. Bring ingredients for s’mores to make by the fire and you’ll have one awesome night under the stars.
The Guy Plans the Date
It’s the thought that counts – Trust me fellas, when it comes to dates, it’s the thought that counts with women. You can take her to the most expensive restaurant in the world, but if the thoughts not there, it’s a bust. So if it’s a first date, try to think of anything your date might have mentioned that she likes. If she says she loves ice cream, look up the best ice cream places in your town and take her there. Or if your planning a date for a longtime lover, taking her to where you had your first date can mean more to her than you’ll ever know.
Picnic – Every woman loves a good picnic. It’s so romantic and also so easy. Find a cute picnic area (preferably one that is more isolated without a lot of screaming children) and pack a ton of finger foods. Head on over to the grocery store and buy crackers, cheese, chips, dips and you can’t forget the fruits and veggies. She will be so impressed that you thought of this all on your own. You will score some major points with this one.
Cook for her – They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Well, I’ve got news for you, it’s also the way to a woman’s heart. Make that famous family recipe of yours that has been passed down from generation to generation. Or maybe you’ve been inspired by watching Top Chef and want to try something new. Put on that apron and ‘spice’ things up.
